Hello Hello!
First thing's first.... HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Is it just me or is it absolutely crazy that it is already 2015?! I feel like just yesterday I was making mix CD's and planning outfits to throw all night theme parties. But that was 2005 and now I'm usually asleep by midnight and all my theme parties are pajama parties.
With the start of a new year, many people find themselves trying to weed out the things in their lives they no longer need or break those bad habits they have been meaning to kick. Personally, I try not to make resolutions at the start of a new year. If I don't REALLY want to make the change and just make a resolution because it's 'what you are supposed to do' I will end up 'failing' fast. Instead, I try to set smaller monthly goals and a couple bigger goals that will take more time to accomplish.
Right now, a small goal we have been working on is maintaining and increasing the cooking we do at home instead of ordering in. My husband (Todd) got me (us) a crock-pot for x-mas and it has already made this goal seem like an easy one we'll be able to tackle in no time. I have plans to share our favorite recipes with you as we start to experiment more.
A larger goal I've been working on is one I had set for myself a few months ago. I want to attempt to fix and mend broken or damaged things before running out to get new things. As you are probably aware by now, I have lots of piles of projects, things to mend, things to make, projects to try and things to ... pile up. One said pile has been growing and is full of items I love but need to replace. That's where my goal comes in, fix these items so I don't have to;
- Find a replacement that won't be as good or the same as the original.
- Add more stuff to the already bursting landfills.
- Spend money for something I have already purchased.
It turns out that YOU CAN have your cake and eat it too. I'm happy, my wallet's happy and the earth is happy. For the next three Tuesdays I will share tutorials with you so you too can fix a few of your favorite things.

fix it don't ditch it
The first Fix It Don't Ditch It post will go up tomorrow January 13, 2015 and this first mini-series will go for three weeks (three Tuesdays) with the last post on January 27, 2015. Hopefully you guys enjoy it as much as I do and we can make this a reoccurring series.
